1. Chocolate chip cookie or oatmeal?

Chocolate chip but I would rather an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie

2. What is your career goal?

I’m not sure what career I want to go into. I’m thinking about taking business next year in university;      but my career goal would be getting paid for something that I enjoy doing.

3. What is your favorite pastime?

Probably sports, singing and playing the piano, reading or watching Netflix and YouTube

4. What are 2 things on your bucket list?

Traveling for sure like Southern and Eastern Asia especially Indonesia, Thailand, Europe and places          like that and then something extreme like sky diving at least one time in my life.

5. Where was your most memorable vacation destination and what did you love most about it?

Costa Rica. It technically wasn’t really a vacation but it was a missions trip and was definitely one         of my favorite places that I’ve been to. It’s such a beautiful country but I think the thing I loved the         most about it was the people that I met there

            –  What Impacted you the most on that Mission trip?

The people in the church were so willing to serve and giving us a place to stay, giving up  what they had to help us.  The people are just so kind it wasn’t just us doing ministry for them it was also them ministering to us with their kindness. That impacted me the most.

–          Was that the very first and last mission trip that you have been on?

No, my first mission trip was to Mexico so we built like a house for a family there. I am  planning on going on another mission trip this spring break to Uganda, Africa bringing wheelchairs to people there who doesn’t have access to this kind of thing.

–          Did your first mission trip ignite some flame within you?

Yes, for sure.  I loved that trip so much it was so much fun experiencing new cultures and connecting with people who may not speak the same language as you but you realize how similar you are that we are all the same.

–          What would you say the mission trips taught you about yourself?

I am capable of doing a lot more.  I am sometimes very scared to go talk to people or in church to go pray for people, or do things outside of my comfort zone. Preaching and doing those sorts of things made me feel more comfortable to step outside my comfort zone.  It also made me realize that I should be more grateful for what I have. Like I see people living in those conditions and I am like wow, I have so much and I take it for granted.

6. Share with us one of your talents and when you feel the most joy using it?

I think one of my talents would be singing and I feel the most joy using it in church especially when I       am doing praise, that’s one of my favorite, not even the concerts but just singing praise. Another           talent is Music and I think I feel the most joy using it when I’m playing the piano at home by myself         and it is just me and God.

7. Share a word of advice with your younger peers?

I would say be kind to others and be kind to yourself.  Treat others the way you’d want to be treated. Over my past years of high school, I’ve seen people be pretty mean and I’ve seen how words can really hurt people so I would say be a person who builds up people instead of tearing them down and that applies to yourself too. I think sometimes we can be our own worst critic and we can be hard on ourselves. So don’t worry so much about other peoples’ opinions and meeting everyone’s expectations. Try your best in everything you do but don’t worry about pleasing everyone. The only opinion that matters the most is God’s.

Youth Director

As the Youth Leader of the New Life Church, the mission of the Youth Department is to equip our youth to be agents of change for Christ through empowerment, encouragement and consistent support.

“I have a deep interest in the youth , and I greatly desire to see them striving to perfect christian characters, seeking by diligent study and earnest prayer to gain the training essential for acceptable service in the cause of God.  I long to see them helping one another to reach a higher plain of Christian experience. (MYP 15.1)”

Our Church family is committed to the growth and development of our Youth and equipping them to overcome every single temptation.  The Bible is full of hopeful, encouraging and strengthening verses for our young people. Our AY programs as a result are as engaging as they are a spiritual outlet for them to experience the amazing promises of God available to us through faith and obedience.

Through the alignment with other ministries such as Pathfinder, Music, Community Service and others we hope to inspire our youth to be creative in employing fresh ideas in the advancement of the gospel.
‘In order that the work may go forward in all its branches, God calls for youthful vigor, zeal, and courage. He has chosen the youth to aid in the advancement of His cause. To plan with clear mind and execute with courageous hand demands fresh, uncrippled energies. Young men and women are invited to give God the strength of their youth, that through the exercise of their powers, through keen thought and vigorous action, they may bring glory to Him and salvation to their fellow-men. (Gospel Workers, 67.) MYP 20.1’

With such an army of workers as our youth, rightly trained, might furnish, how soon the message of a crucified, risen, and soon-coming Saviour might be carried to the whole world! How soon might the end come, the end of suffering and sorrow and sin! How soon, in place of a possession here, with its blight of sin and pain, our children might receive their inheritance where “the righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein forever”; where “the inhabitant shall not say, I am sick,” and “the voice of weeping shall be no more heard.”–“Counsels to Teachers, Parents, and Students,” p. 555 .’
